[대화] 줄리아 콜레티: 산업적 지하의 유령들

YPC SPACE는 연구자이자 큐레이터 줄리아 콜레티와 함께 산업 근대성이 남긴 유령적 유산과 그 동시대적 잔존을 탐구하는 대화를 나눕니다.
1921년 크로아티아 라빈의 광부 봉기, 1987년 한국 태백역 점거 투쟁, 대만 하이산 광산 여성 노동자들의 이야기를 출발점으로, 콜레티는 이러한 저항의 기억을 데이터 센터, 채굴 시설, 무인 공장 등 오늘날 확산된 산업 인프라와 연결합니다. 예술적 실천 및 역사적 파편을 살펴보며, 추출주의적 논리가 기술 시스템 속에서 여전히 작동하며 인간의 우월성을 약화하는 동시에 정의와 소속감을 재편하는 방식을 살펴보고자 합니다. 나아가 콜레티의 큐레토리얼 실천 및 리서치를 통해 생산 기계가 비가시적이지만 어디에나 존재하게 된 현 시점에 산업적 지하의 유령을 마주하는 것이 무얼 의미하는지 묻습니다.
*줄리아 콜레티(1993년생)는 미술사학자, 큐레이터, 교육자다. 제13회 이탈리아 심의회의 지원을 받는 제5회 산업미술비엔날레의 공동 큐레이터이며, 토리노 카스텔로 디 리볼리 현대미술관의 큐레이터이자 프로그램·디지털 담당자다. 최근 기획한 전시로는 《Allegory of Public Happiness》(갈레리아 치비카 – MaRT 트렌토 로베레토 현대미술관, 2024), 《Dominique White. The Fugitive of the State(less)》(아트 시티 – MAMbo, 볼로냐, 2023), 《Fragile Soil, Fertile Souls》(UN 대학, 토리노, 2022)가 있다. 현재 ABADIR 아카데미에서 현대미술과 큐레토리얼 실천을 강의하며, 2024년 빈 응용예술대학교 초빙 강사, 2019년 글래스고 예술학교 창립 큐레토리얼 펠로우를 역임했다.

[Conversation] Giulia Colletti: Ghosts of the Industrial Underground

YPC SPACE invites Giulia Colletti—art historian, curator, and educator—for a conversation on the spectral legacies of industrial modernity and its contemporary afterlives.
Taking the cue from the 1921 miners’ uprising in Labin (Croatia), the 1987 occupation of Taebaek railway station (South Korea), and the stories of women labouring in Haishan mines (Taiwan), Colletti connects these episodes of resistance to today’s dispersed infrastructures of industrialisation—from data centres to mining facilities and lights-out factories. Through artists’ works and historical fragments, she examines how the extractive logic of mining persists within technological systems, displacing human agency while shaping our sense of justice and belonging. This conversation asks what it means to face the ghosts of the industrial underground when the machinery of production has become imperceptible yet omnipresent.
*Giulia Colletti (b. 1993) is an art historian, curator, and educator. She is Co-curator of the 5th Industrial Art Biennial, supported by the 13th Italian Council, and serves as Curator, Programs and Digital at Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea. Her recent curated exhibitions include Allegory of Public Happiness (Galleria Civica – MaRT Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, 2024), Dominique White. The Fugitive of the State(less) (Art City – MAMbo, Bologna, 2023), and Fragile Soil, Fertile Souls (United Nations College, Turin, 2022). She lectures in Contemporary Art and Curatorial Practice at ABADIR Academy, and was Visiting Lecturer at Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in 2024 and Inaugural Curatorial Fellow at The Glasgow School of Art in 2019.
