이요와 황예간은 각자의 위치에서 겪은 ‘소외감’이라는 감각을 교차하고, 그 이음새로부터 새어나오는 진동을 경험할 수 있는 자리를 제안한다. 기계를 몸에 이식한 후 듣는 경험과 가부장제 내 약자로서 대상화된 경험은 이질적인 소리와 이미지, 진동과 촉감 파편의 모음으로 재구성된다. 몸을 관통한 감각이 또 다른 몸이 머물 수 있는 장소로 펼쳐질 때, 개인이 겪는 이질감은 사회적·구조적 기반으로 한 구성물로써 드러난다. 나아가 장애인과 여성의 경험이 교차한 세계로의 초대는 임의로 강제된 사회적 기준의 축을 다시 상상할 수 있는 틈을 열어보인다.

Waiting to Reach You by EEYO and Hwang Yegan weaves together the sense of “alienation” experienced emotionally and physically by the two artists from their respective positions. How one “hears” with a device implanted in their head and what it “feels” like to be objectified in a patriarchal society is reconstructed as a collation of heterogeneous sounds, images, vibrations, and tactile fragments. Their practice attempts to channel the senses that penetrate the body and unfold them into a place where other/othered bodies can reside, instead of a “nice” way of adjusting to the violence and exclusion of society. It seeks to think together the sense of alienation in terms of both a bodily experience and a social and structural construct. Furthermore, the artists intersect the experiences of the disabled and female, opening up the crevice to reimagine the arbitrarily enforced social axis.
