미국 Twin Gallery Laundry, 멕시코 Radio28, 러시아 Plague Space, 미국 Barely Art Fair 등의 단체전에 참여했으며, 싱가포르의 Temporary Unit (2022), The Substation (2021), Comma Space (2020), DECK (2019)에서 개인전을 개최했다.

YPC SPACE presents The Crows, the first solo exhibition in Korea by Singapore-based artist Lai Yu Tong. Lai has long turned his attention to the wild animals that live within the seemingly seamless order of Singapore. Living at the edges of the city and constantly crossing paths with humans, these animals inspire both empathy and affection in Lai, while also embodying what the city’s efficiently functioning systems cannot quite contain. For this exhibition, Lai turns specifically to the crows he has observed for years within the radius of his everyday life. Often regarded as nuisances—unclean creatures seen as a threat to the cleanliness and proper functioning of the city —the crows take on many forms in works assembled from small fragments of black paper. These shifting forms of the crow hover between flight and fall, belonging and wandering, silence and cry, presence and shadow, bringing back into view lives that the city continually pushes out of sight.

Lai Yu Tong (b. 1996) is a Singapore-based artist working across drawing, image-making, sculpture, and sound. His practice searches for adequate media through which to articulate contemporary life, while attending to the fundamental human impulse to make images and tell stories. In recent years, he has spent extended periods observing and representing everyday objects and beings that are easily overlooked—hands, cars, chairs, crows, and stray dogs—using these encounters to see the familiar world otherwise and to consider how art might create possibilities for empathy in a damaged world. He has participated in group exhibitions at April April (USA), Radio28 (Mexico), So, Shenzhen! (China), and Plague Space (Russia), and held solo exhibitions at The Esplanade Tunnel, ShanghART Gallery, Temporary Unit, The Substation, Comma Space, and DECK in Singapore, and at Twin Gallery Laundry in Minneapolis, USA. He also runs Thumb Books, an independent press making books for both children and adults, and has organized projects including Frida, an exhibition platform staged by his kitchen window, and Robin, a series of exhibitions presented in camping tents across Singapore.
